One month ago today, we tied up our laces and kicked off our Miles for Change campaign, using every mile to advocate for reproductive health and spark conversations that matter.
As part of the campaign, WABJ Founder Hannah Ajala sat down with Jonathan Luwagga for a deeply candid and personal interview touching on an aspect of reproductive health that isn’t discussed nearly enough: men’s health and fertility.

Breaking the Stigma Around Male Fertility

In the interview, Jonathan opens up about his backstory and finding out about his own fertility journey. Reproductive health challenges affect men far more than society typically acknowledges, often leaving men to navigate the emotional and physical toll in silence. Jonathan’s story sheds light on why it’s time to dismantle that stigma and encourage open dialogue among Black men and their families.

Crucial Health Tips & The Reality of Prostate Cancer

Beyond fertility, the conversation tackles crucial preventative advice, particularly around prostate health. The statistics within our community are stark: 1 in 4 Black men in the UK (and 1 in 6 globally) will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime—double the rate of White men.
Because early detection drastically improves outcomes, knowing the risks and getting checked regularly can literally save lives. Jonathan shares actionable tips for men looking to take charge of their health, from tracking symptoms to speaking with doctors early.
